Certified to Restore: JetGlow Earns Shiny Jets Window Certification

🧭 Why Windows Matter

Aircraft transparencies — especially acrylic (PMMA) windshields and cabin windows — are more than cosmetic. They’re mission-critical for pilot visibility, aerodynamics, and safety. Over time, they take a beating from UV, temperature swings, sand, and improper cleaning.

Brett Berry, founder of Shiny Jets, captures it perfectly:

“Aircraft windows must endure extreme environmental and operational stress. When we restore them, we’re not just polishing — we’re rebuilding optical precision.”

That philosophy is why JetGlow sent technicians to train directly under Brett Berry at Shiny Jets’ Acrylic Window Restoration Certification Program.

🧰 Inside the Certification Journey

This isn’t your average “shine-it-up” course. The Shiny Jets curriculum combines aerospace material science with hands-on restoration work on real aircraft components.

1️⃣ Theory & Safety

Students start with the fundamentals:

  • The chemistry of acrylic versus polycarbonate.

  • Recognizing heat distortion, crazing, and stress cracking.

  • Correct RPM ranges and surface temperature control (<95 °F).

  • Masking and contamination prevention near seals and paint.

2️⃣ Hands-On Restoration

Under Brett’s instruction, students train on both curved and flat acrylic panels — learning how to:

  • Level scratches progressively with 1000–4000-grit or Micro-Mesh abrasives.

  • Use dual-action polishers for clarity restoration.

  • Evaluate optical distortion with reflection-line testing.

  • Achieve that crystal-clear, mirror-smooth finish without altering optical geometry.

The facility is equipped with full-scale drum buffers and OEM-spec compounds, exposing students to equipment rarely available outside certified shops.

3️⃣ Inspection & Certification

Each technician completes a practical evaluation:

  • Optical clarity inspection under cross-light.

  • Temperature-control technique verification.

  • Documentation of the restoration process and AMM compliance.

Upon completion, technicians receive official Shiny Jets Certification in Acrylic Aircraft Window Restoration — proof of proficiency, professionalism, and precision.

🛫 Why This Certification Matters for JetGlow
